HBOX — Product Specification (Series 1 → Series 2)

The HBOX as a product: what it is, its variants, interfaces, and target specs. Requirements live in 01-Requirements/SRS; parts in 03-Architecture-Hardware/BOM-master. Series 1 = current module-based build (ASA case + Dupont wiring). Series 2 = the production PCB target.

1. Overview

HBOX is a ruggedized, cabinet-housed RTK GPS telemetry unit for heavy port equipment. It delivers centimetre-class position over 4G to the Helgen backend, with an onboard watchdog that keeps the correction link alive unattended. Sold as a gabinete (cabinet) assembly: an industrial IP67 cabinet (power, protection, ignition isolation) + the internal HBOX (RTK + 4G + watchdog).

2. Variants

Variant Machine power Cabinet supply → Notes
12 V 12 Vdc Mean Well DDR-60G-24 → 24 V Tractoplana, Montacargas
24 V 24 Vdc DDR-60G-24 → 24 V dominant: RTG, Reach Stacker, Empty Handler
48 V 48 Vdc DDR-60L-24 → 24 V —
110 V 110 Vac/dc HDR-60-24 / Siemens → 24 V + AC SPD + termomagnético
230 V 220 Vac HDR-60-24 → 24 V + Bussman fusing
Base Station 110 Vac — Ardusimple AS-PRO-CORS (RTK source/NTRIP caster)

Internal HBOX electronics are identical across variants; only the cabinet power/protection stage changes with machine voltage.

3. Key specifications (targets)

Parameter Spec
GNSS u-blox ZED-F9P, multi-band L1/L2, multi-constellation
Position accuracy RTK fixed: ~1–2 cm + 1 ppm CEP (open sky, valid corrections)
Update rate 1 Hz (active) / 30 s (idle/battery)
Corrections NTRIP/RTCM3 over 4G LTE (ArduSimple 4G NTRIP Master)
Telemetry out NMEA over UDP → retranslator → Wialon/Traccar → VERONICA
HBOX input 24 Vdc (from cabinet) + isolated ignition
Internal 5 V Mean Well SD-15B-05 (18–36 V→5 V, 3 A)
Backup power PowerBoost 1000C + 18650 Li-ion 1S4P (under review — see SRS FR-7)
MCU / watchdog STM32F411 Blackpill, firmware blackpillrtkcode_v2
HBOX↔cabinet GX16-5 locking circular connector
Antennas 1× multiband GNSS (SMA) + 2× LTE (AR1582)
Status external LED (multi-pattern) + onboard LED + debug UART dashboard
Cabinet Yetlebox P3901, ABS, IP67, 39×29×16 cm, DIN rail
Environmental (target) −10…+75 °C internal; ≥2 G vibration (to validate); coastal humidity
Enclosure (HBOX) Series 1: ASA (adequate) → Series 2: ASA or metal / plate-mount

4. Interfaces

  • GX16-5 (HBOX↔cabinet): 24 V, GND, ignition, (spare ×2) — finalize pinout on the schematic before PCB.
  • Antennas: bulkhead SMA (GNSS) + 2× LTE via glands; torque + thread-lock.
  • SIM: Telcel micro (Series 1, internal) → front-panel or MFF2 eSIM (Series 2).
  • Debug: USB/UART ANSI dashboard (battery, fix, packets, temp, state).

5. Status indication (LED)

Boot (fast blink) · Running+RTK (solid) · Battery mode (heartbeat) · Searching/ degraded (slow blink) · LIMP/no-4G (SOS-ish double) · Power-cycling (strobe) · Sleep/critical (off). See firmware v2.

6. Model / SKU

H-BOX Series1 (current) → H-BOX Series2 (PCB). Each unit carries a Helgen data label (modelo, serie, datos técnicos) + warning + input-voltage label.

7. Series 2 (production) deltas

ASA case retained (optional metal) · Dupont/hand-wire → PCB + locking connectors · discrete watchdog → integrated load switch · battery decision · front-panel SIM · conduction cooling · documented assembly. See 03-Architecture-Hardware/hardware-respec-and-pcb-brief.
