2.2 KiB

Wide-power autoroute — run on your Mac (Java 23), then hand me the .ses

File: hbox-watchdog-v3-PROD-wideclass.dsn — the current board's placement + nets + B.Cu GND plane, unrouted, with power net-classes injected so FreeRouting routes the rails wide:

Class Width Nets
PWR_HI 1.5 mm BAT_PLUS, SW_BAT, MAIN5V, VEH5V, SYS5V, VIN_SW
PWR_MID 1.0 mm SW_5V, 3V3_MODEM, 5V_FAN, 24V, 24V_IN, IGN_IN, SW_FAN, SW3_NODE, FAN_RET
kicad_default 0.2 mm everything else (signals)
GND — handled by the B.Cu plane (exports as (plane GND), not routed)

Widths meet the watchdog-pcb-v3-kicad-guide §6 spec (power ≥0.5, SW_5V ≥0.8) with margin, and are routable on 2 layers. Power vias reuse the 0.6/0.3 padstack (upsize in the GUI later if you want).

1. Route it (in 03-Architecture-Hardware/kicad/)

GUI (recommended — you can watch and stop it):

cd "~/Documents/Claude/Projects/Drogheda/03-Architecture-Hardware/kicad"
java -jar freerouting-1.9.0.jar

File → Open Design → hbox-watchdog-v3-PROD-wideclass.dsn. It auto-routes; when the ratsnest is gone (or it stalls), File → Export Specctra Session File → save hbox-watchdog-v3-PROD-wideclass.ses.

Headless (one shot):

java -jar freerouting-1.9.0.jar \
  -de hbox-watchdog-v3-PROD-wideclass.dsn \
  -do hbox-watchdog-v3-PROD-wideclass.ses -mp 100

2. Bring it back

Tell me hbox-watchdog-v3-PROD-wideclass.ses is ready and I'll import it (import_ses → refill the GND plane → DRC → render) — same finishing I did on the 0.2 mm route. Or in KiCad: File → Import → Specctra Session.

⚠ Importing replaces the current 0.2 mm routing with the new wide route (backups exist: …bak-postAutoroute-20260703-202442). It's a fresh full route, so expect a similar small straggler set (a few sensor/GND opens) to close interactively — same as before.

3. Tweak widths (optional)

Edit the µm values in the .dsn: (width 1500) = PWR_HI, (width 1000) = PWR_MID. Your project's original spec was PWR_HI 2.5 mm — set (width 2500) if you want it, but wider rails may leave more nets unrouted on 2 layers (iterate down if so).
